Dixon Technologies Partners with Taiwan’s Inventec to Manufacture PCs and Servers in India

In a major push towards strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities, Dixon Technologies has announced a strategic joint venture with Taiwan-based Inventec Corporation, one of the world’s top five Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) of PCs. The partnership aims to locally manufacture notebooks, desktop PCs, servers, and related components, in line with the Indian government’s Make in India and self-reliance initiatives.

New JV to Fuel IT Hardware Manufacturing

The newly formed entity, Dixon IT Devices Pvt Ltd, will see Dixon hold a 60% stake, while Inventec will own the remaining 40%. The board structure will reflect this equity split, with Dixon nominating three directors and Inventec appointing two.

“We are delighted to partner with Inventec, a global leader in IT hardware manufacturing. This joint venture marks a significant milestone for Dixon as we expand into high-growth segments like notebooks and servers,”
Atul B. Lall, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Dixon Technologies

Combining Strengths for a Smarter Future

This partnership brings together Dixon’s operational scale and local expertise with Inventec’s engineering, design, and systems integration capabilities. The joint venture will not only cater to domestic demand but is also expected to boost India’s competitiveness in global IT hardware exports.

“Dixon is one of India’s most prominent electronics manufacturing firms. This partnership enhances our operational agility and diversifies our manufacturing footprint in line with our global strategy,”
Jack Tsai, President, Inventec Corporation

Dixon’s Strategic Expansion in IT Hardware

This venture is the latest in a string of strategic moves by Dixon to expand its footprint in the IT hardware segment. In 2023, its subsidiary Padget Electronics signed an agreement to manufacture HP-branded laptops, desktops, and all-in-one PCs in Tamil Nadu. A 300,000 sq. ft. facility is currently under construction in Oragadam, expected to create over 1,500 jobs.

Dixon has also been a major beneficiary of the PLI 2.0 Scheme for IT Hardware, which offers up to 5% incentives on net incremental sales for companies producing laptops, tablets, PCs, and servers locally. The scheme aims to make India a global electronics manufacturing hub.

Looking Ahead: Display Fab and Semiconductor Push

Dixon’s ambitions don’t stop at computing devices. During its Q3 FY24 earnings call, the company disclosed plans to enter the display fabrication business, with a $3 billion investment pipeline. Dixon is in active talks with a global technology partner and is expected to benefit from government incentives under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0.

This display fab project will focus on localizing high-value components, improving supply chain resilience, and supporting a broader range of electronics manufacturing — from mobile devices to IT infrastructure.

Inventec: A Global ODM Powerhouse

Founded in 1975, Inventec Corporation is a global leader in manufacturing computers, laptops, phones, and server products. The company has also diversified into automotive electronics, IoT, cloud computing, and wireless communications in recent years, further strengthening the strategic value it brings to this joint venture.

This landmark collaboration between Dixon Technologies and Inventec is poised to redefine India’s position in the global IT hardware supply chain. As the demand for locally manufactured electronics grows, this JV represents a vital step towards India’s goal of becoming a high-tech manufacturing powerhouse.
