Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Smart Glasses Debut in India with Hindi Support, Deepika Padukone Voice & UPI Lite Payment

Ray-Ban and Meta have officially launched the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses in India, bringing notable upgrades in design, battery life, camera performance, and—most importantly—features crafted specifically for Indian users. Priced at ₹39,900, the wearable is now available at Ray-Ban India outlets and leading optical retailers across the country.

The second-generation glasses arrive with support for Hindi voice interaction, a new celebrity AI voice mode voiced by Deepika Padukone, and UPI Lite payment capability, making this release more India-centric than its predecessor. Meta claims that the device also delivers double the battery life over the previous model.

Highlights

  • Price: ₹39,900

  • Availability: Ray-Ban India stores & national retail partners

  • Battery: Up to 8 hours standalone, plus 48 hours via charging case

  • Camera: 3K Ultra HD recording with ultrawide HDR

  • India Features: Hindi commands, Deepika Padukone AI voice, UPI Lite payments

  • Design Options: Wayfarer, Skyler & Headliner; new shades including Shiny Cosmic Blue

Performance & Hardware Improvements

The Gen 2 glasses address previous-generation concerns by boosting battery life to 8 hours of mixed usage, supported by fast charging that reaches 50% in about 20 minutes. The charging case extends total use by another 48 hours, improving practicality for daily wear.

The new 3K Ultra HD camera brings better clarity for photos and videos, especially in bright and uneven lighting conditions thanks to HDR support. Meta has also announced upcoming software features like Hyperlapse and Slow Motion, aimed at creators and social media users.

Hindi Commands & Celebrity AI Voice

In a move targeted at the Indian audience, Meta AI now fully responds to Hindi voice commands, allowing users to manage playback, ask questions, send messages, and navigate features freely in Hindi.

A standout addition is the Deepika Padukone AI voice mode, giving the glasses a distinctly local and interactive feel. Users can switch between the standard assistant voice and the celebrity voice according to preference.

UPI Lite – Hands-Free Payments

The integration of UPI Lite brings a practical use-case to wearable tech. With a simple voice command like “Hey Meta, scan and pay”, users can scan QR codes hands-free and make payments via their WhatsApp-linked bank account. Since UPI Lite handles low-value transactions without PIN entry, it enables quick, small payments on the go.

Design & Style Options

Ray-Ban continues to maintain its classic look, offering the smart glasses in Wayfarer, Headliner, and Skyler frame styles. New colourways such as Shiny Cosmic Blue, Mystic Violet, and Asteroid Grey add fresh aesthetics while keeping the traditional Ray-Ban appeal intact. Despite housing speakers, cameras and chipset inside, the design stays lightweight and familiar.

Privacy Considerations

To address privacy concerns, the glasses feature an LED indicator that lights up during video capture, notifying people nearby that recording is in progress. Meta encourages users to follow social etiquette and be mindful of laws around photographing in public spaces.

With Indian-language AI, local payment integration, better battery performance and stylish frame choices, the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 arrives as a more refined and practical smart wearable for the Indian market—one that blends fashion with everyday convenience.
