Exploring Promate Technologies’ Entry into India: A Conversation with Gopal Jeyaraj

Gopal Jeyaraj, the Head of India and SAARC for Promate Technologies, has been given the responsibility of leading the charge of establishing the brand and expanding the product range in India. With more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry, Gopal has been instrumental in driving the growth of numerous businesses in India. DeviceNext had the opportunity to have an interaction with him, where he discussed Promate Technologies’ entry into the Indian market, their growth plan, and his opinion on the consumer electronics industry in India.

Please brief us about Promate Technologies, and what differentiates it from the competition?

Promate Technologies was founded in 2001 in Taipei, Taiwan by a group of technological visionaries from companies like Asus, Foxconn and Pegatron. After winning several industry awards for innovation and design, Promate technology has established itself as a leading brand for lifestyle accessory products. Promate manufactures products like smart watches, fast charging power banks, Type C Hubs with Multi Streaming Transport, TWS, and neckbands.  We believe in staying ahead of our competition and go by the ‘first to market’ philosophy. Globally, we are known for our superior quality, design, engineering and value.

How is the expansion into the Indian market important for Promate?

India is undoubtedly one of the most important markets for Mobile accessories. The primary reasons are rapid adoption of smartphones and gadgets, a tech savvy audience, and a growing young population. Promate Technologies intends to expand its presence in India by introducing 100+ electronics products in respective categories such as smart watches, TWS, power banks, headphones, Speakers and chargers in phase 1. Our mission is to provide high-quality products to technologically savvy customers. In India, technology moves rapidly. At Promate, we have designed products to meet the changing needs and lifestyles of our customers.

Please share insights on the line of products you will be launching in India?

We have planned a phased launch of our categories and individual products. Our GaN chargers, fast-charging power banks, Type C Hubs with Multi Streaming Transport, TWS, and neckbands will be available in the first phase. There is a high demand for these products in the Indian market, and we hope to fill the void with our offerings. We also intend to launch a limited number of premium smartwatches (XWatch and ProWatch series) that are not only technologically advanced but also fashionable in this period. 

Indian market for mobile accessories is very competitive, so how is Promate planning to gain an edge over the competition?

Promate Technologies truly believes in the power of technology and its ability to make people’s lives easier. With specialised teams of industrial designers and engineers, Promate manages to deliver products that are both distinct in design and quality. Majority of our AC chargers are with GaN technology, our Wireless charging stations equipped with both MFI (Made for iWatch) and MFM (Made for Magsafe) certifications, Majority of our Powerbanks offer PD (Power Delivery) fast charging support and our latest Smartwatches are equipped with best in class chipsets for better tracking and health monitoring.

From your perspective, how do you see the Indian market growing in the coming years.

Promate sees India as a key market. We certainly have a long-term vision and intend to establish a strong presence in India. Our mission is to provide high-quality products to technologically savvy customers. We want to cater to customers with our award-winning products. Promate spends extensively on R&D and product development to consistently come up with unique and high-value products. So, we firmly believe that ‘Once a Promate customer, will always stay a Promate customer’
