HARMAN has announced a major milestone in in-car display technology, becoming the first company in the world to receive HDR10+ Automotive certification for its Ready Display system. This achievement brings premium home-theatre-grade visual quality to vehicle interiors, marking a significant advancement in automotive infotainment.
A subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, HARMAN continues to push the boundaries of connected car experiences as vehicles evolve into sophisticated digital environments.
A New Standard for In-Car Visual Quality
The HDR10+ Automotive certification—developed by HDR10+ Technologies LLC, in partnership with Samsung and Panasonic—is designed to set a global benchmark for how visuals should appear inside vehicles.
To earn this certification, HARMAN’s Ready Display had to pass rigorous performance tests, ensuring:
-
Exceptional clarity in both bright sunlight and dim surroundings
-
Consistent color accuracy and contrast, even with rapid lighting shifts
-
Real-time adjustment of brightness and tone when driving from bright to dark environments (e.g., entering a tunnel)
The certification also validates the display’s support for HDR10+ Adaptive, which intelligently adjusts picture settings based on ambient light conditions inside the cabin.
Enhancing Comfort and Visibility for Drivers and Passengers
The introduction of HDR10+ Automotive brings a major usability upgrade for in-car screens. Drivers and passengers will experience:
-
Better visibility in all lighting conditions
-
More comfortable viewing during long drives
-
Reduced eye strain thanks to dynamic brightness control
-
High-detail visuals that improve both entertainment and navigation clarity
This development underlines how rapidly automotive interiors are shifting toward premium, consumer-electronics-grade experiences.
With this milestone, HARMAN sets a new standard for in-car displays, paving the way for more immersive, adaptive, and visually advanced cabin environments in the future.
