HP Envy x360 14 Review: A Sleek, Convertible Powerhouse

HP has recently expanded its Envy lineup in India with the introduction of the HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop 14-fc0078TU. This model stands out with its 14-inch form factor, lightweight convertible design, and AI-enhanced performance, appealing to users seeking high performance in a portable device.

Design and Display

Frequent travelers will appreciate the HP Envy x360 14 for its portability and sleek design. Weighing just 1.4 kg, this laptop is easy to carry around. Its 360-degree rotation feature allows seamless switching between laptop and tablet modes, although the tablet mode can feel slightly heavy. The durable 360-degree hinges, rounded corners, and premium aluminum chassis in a single Blue color option give it a sophisticated look, though it does attract fingerprints on its matte finish.

The standout feature is its 14-inch 2.8K OLED multi-touch display. With a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection, this screen delivers vibrant colors and sharp details. The 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut and peak brightness of up to 500 nits ensure excellent visibility even outdoors. The display’s performance is ideal for content creators and media consumption.

The HP Envy x360 14 also boasts a chiclet keyboard with well-spaced keys and decent travel time, making it comfortable for typing. The backlit feature with three levels of brightness allows for use in low-light conditions. The large, responsive trackpad supports gesture-based inputs, enhancing overall usability and navigation. HP has also added a dedicated Microsoft Copilot and an emoji button in keypad for convenience, adding to its user-friendly design.

Connectivity options are robust, with a variety of ports to suit different needs. On the left side, the laptop includes a USB port, an HDMI port, and two USB Type-C ports. On the right side, it features a USB Type-A port and a headphone jack, providing ample connectivity for various peripherals.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the HP Envy x360 14 is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor paired with Intel Integrated Graphics. It comes with 16GB LPDDR5-6400 MHz RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, making it well-suited for multitasking, web browsing, document editing, and media consumption. However, it falls short for intensive gaming due to the lack of a dedicated graphics card.

The 59 Whr battery provides a decent battery life of around 6 hours, a trade-off for the laptop’s thin design. While it handles everyday tasks smoothly, the fans become noticeable during heavier tasks, indicating some throttling.

Priced starting at ₹1,07,999, the HP Envy x360 14 offers a compelling balance of features with its convertible design, powerful processor, and high-quality display. Despite some drawbacks like lack of a detachable keyboard, and relatively low brightness, it remains a strong contender for those seeking a lightweight and versatile laptop.
