realme, one of the leading smartphone brands globally, recently released its H1 2020 growth statistics and has reported an 11% growth in Q2 2020, making it the only major brand to have registered a double-digit, positive figure growth. realme has been named the fastest-growing smartphone brand in the world for four consecutive quarters by Counterpoint. Another report by Counterpoint also highlighted that realme was one of the only two brands to have registered positive growth in Q1 2020, with 157% increase YoY.

Based on the latest user numbers, realme has added 15M users in the first half of the year. realme has emerged as one of the top four smartphone brands in India, Thailand, Cambodia and Egypt, and is amongst the top five in Myanmar, Philippines, Ukraine, Indonesia and Vietnam, according to Counterpoint Research and IDC.

With an aim to promote 5G products in its retail markets, realme launched the first 5G enabled smartphone in India, the realme X50 Pro 5G. The smartphone is also the first 5G phone in Thailand and the first 5G under 1000 USD Cambodia.

In 2020, realme had implemented a ‘Smartphone + AIoT’ dual-engine strategy, and successfully met its targets for H1 2020. The brand is on track to launch over 50 AIoT products this year and is preparing to add over 100 AIoT products to its portfolio in the next year. Despite being a new entrant in the smart personal audio market in India, realme occupied the 3rd place among top smart personal audio vendors in India for Q1, 2020 as per Canalys data.

realme has recently re-defined its smartphone and AIoT strategy as a “1+4+N” strategy, which comprises one core product (smartphones), complemented by four major groups of lifestyle devices (speakers, earphones, TVs and watches) and “N” types of smart accessories.

Commenting on the results, Madhav Sheth, Vice President realme and CEO, realme India said “realme has scaled massive growth in a short period of time, since its foundation in 2018. Today, it has emerged as the most popular tech-lifestyle brand in the world, thanks to the immense hard work from our realme team. Their vision to make realme one of the most innovative, youthful brands in a highly competitive industry, with a deep understanding of the consumer’s pulse, have contributed to this success. We have Dared to Leap ahead, time and again, and this is evident in the growth curve we witnessed in H1 2020. We will continue to stay true to our mission to connect with the youth, offer the best tech-lifestyle experience, enable them to push their boundaries and challenge themselves.”

realme’s products have also made waves in the design world. In 2020, realme’s Design Studio has collaborated with world-renowned designers Naoto Fukasawa and Jose Levy of Hermes fame to introduce trendsetting realme products. realme also won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for its X2 Pro Master, issuing a strong challenge to incumbent brands. realme has pioneered innovations not only in design but also in technology, most notably when it launched the world’s first 125W fast charging technology.
