Though all of them are not so popular, but apps like TikTok, Shareit, WeChat are few apps which are widely used in India.
We try to find out few alternatives of these popular apps.
TikTok
TikTok has been in the news for the past few months but this time is making headlines for a different reason. The app has been banned by the government of India but you can still get some alternatives. Two desi options you can get right now are Mitron and Chingari, which recently shot up to fame and have been downloaded millions of times.
UC Browser
Although UC Browser is popular in India, it’s still far behind Chrome in popularity according to Statcounter, and that is a perfectly good alternative to use. Mozilla Firefox is another good alternative, which regularly introduces new features such as its own VPN, and so that’s our recommendation.
CamScanner
In case you have CamScanner installed on your smartphone, you can download it and instead install apps like Adobe Scan: PDF Scanner with OCR, PDF Creator or Microsoft Office Lens – PDF Scanner. You can find these two on the Apple App Store as well. While Adobe Scan weighs 28MB, Microsoft Office Lens weighs almost double at 43MB but has more features. CamScanner weighs 35MB.
ES File Explorer
ES File Explorer is also one of the widely used apps that manages the files and lets you easily access or move files from one folder to another. Most smartphones also have this installed by default. Fortunately, there are some decent alternatives to this including Files by Google: Clean up space on your phone and File Commander – File Manager & Free Cloud. These carry the same function and don’t take up much space in your handset.
Shareit
A popular app to transfer files between phones, Shareit can be really useful, but worry not if you depended on the app a lot. For iOS users, the built in Airdrop function is an incredibly simple way of transferring different documents as long as you’re inside the Apple ecosystem. For an Android user, Google’s own Files Go is probably the best way to handle the same tasks, for now. It will help you manage your files, clean up space on your phone’s storage, and transfer them without using data.
Much like the Mi Video Call app, WeChat is also easy to replace thanks to the wide range of call and chat apps that are available. Once again, we’ll stick to our original recommendation of WhatsApp though, as the most widespread and well known application in this space, as it’s almost certain that the people you want to talk to also use it, so you don’t have to convince them to download another app.
