Emission control is one of the most debatable topics in the world today. With this in mind, modern technology is finding newer means to control the emission from cars to make the world a healthier place to breathe. The answer is finally here in the form of electric vehicles. The no fuel, no emission technology is taking the battle head-on to protect the health of world citizens and the environment.

Uber Green is one of Uber’s four key actions aimed at reducing the company’s carbon footprint. The company has pledged 800 million to help its drivers move to electric vehicles by the year 2025. Uber aims to become a fully zero-emissions company by 2040, its goal is to have 100% of rides take place in EVs by 2030.

Keeping up with the need, the Government of India has begun incentivizing this shift to electric vehicles. However, every change has its own set of challenges and the case is no different in this regard. The perspective of various stakeholders involved directly or indirectly in this shift will need to be discussed and debated. It is of utmost necessity that we do this. What needs to be seen is how soon the shift might be expected to reach the masses.

All this and more was recently discussed at the virtual conference of Green Moving with Uber. Speakers Abhinav Soman, Parthaa Bosu, Anumita Roychoudhury as well as OEM and Uber representatives graced the occasion to discuss the need, chalk out pathways and create solutions-oriented towards creating an emission-free world. Electrification of vehicles is no longer an option. There is an urgent need to limit the rise in global temperatures. The forum will focus on driving home this very message.

Speaking on it, Sharat Chander, Head of Public Policy, Uber India South Asia said, “Sustainability is a team sport. We’re all in it together to fight against carbon emissions and play our part in reducing carbon footprint towards a green recovery. As a leading mobility platform, we take the impact we have on the cities and communities we serve very seriously. We are delighted to support ALT EFF in their mission to build a platform that inspires action towards creating a sustainable future. It is an honor for us at Uber, to be able to share our commitment to making the future of mobility shared, electric, multi-modal and inclusive.”
