The Vivo X80 Pro, Vivo’s latest flagship offering has been launched in India at a price of Rs 79,999 in India. The smartphone comes with a 6.78-inch 2k Samsung E5 AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset paired with 12GB of DDR5 RAM. In terms of optics, there is a quad rear camera on the Vivo X80 Pro that includes a 50-megapixel primary Samsung ISOCELL GNV shooter, a 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 shooter, a 12-megapixel portrait lens, and an 8-megapixel periscope lens.

In terms of performance, the Vivo X80 Pro has everything that makes it a solid performer. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset paired with 12GB of DDR5 RAM. This is enough for any kind of task that you throw its way. Vivo has also put a separate camera chip called the V1+ that takes care of the camera processing without bothering the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The display of the Vivo X80 Pro is also one of the best out there in the market right now. It is a 120Hz refresh rate display with a variable 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate using LTPO 3 technology. The display is also one of the brightest we have used with a peak brightness of 1,500. It plays YouTube and Netflix videos on a maxed out 4K resolution.

The Vivo X80 Pro comes with many interesting camera features. Getting a very good picture on the Vivo X80 Pro is very easy. Just point the smartphone to the subject and click, most of the time you will get a brilliant, vibrant photo. There are times when the camera blows up the light, but despite that, the images look beautiful.

In terms of video also, the camera on the Vivo X80 Pro is impressive. It comes with features like cinematic mode, and has gimbal stabilisation that makes things very smooth. There is also a “Horizontal Line” stabilisation feature that allows the Vivo X80’s video frame to remain straight, even if the camera is turned full 360-degree.

In terms of battery, the vivo X80 Pro comes with a 4,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging technology. The smartphone easily gives over six hours of on-screen time, which is about more than one full day’s usage. The charging is also super fast. The smartphone charges from zero to 75 percent in just under 20 minutes, and to a full 100 percent in just 38 minutes.

Vivo X80 Pro review verdict

The flagship X80 Pro is Vivo’s best bet in the premium Android smartphone market. While the smartphone boasts of good hardware and camera features, what you may be unsure about is its software experience and software updates. On paper, the  Vivo X80 Pro is a classy phone with great cameras but it remains to be seen how many buyers would be actually interested in paying around Rs 80,000 for this smartphone from Vivo when they can buy the latest iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S22 series phones. Another aspect to consider is the resale value, which will be far less for any Vivo smartphone.
