Xiaomi 12 Pro Review: The Best of Xiaomi In 2022

Xiaomi, which was once known for offering budget smartphones with its Redmi sub-brand, is slowly trying to make a mark in the flagship Android segment. Its new Xiaomi 12 Pro 5G may not look as muscular as the Xiaomi 11 Ultra that features dual screens, but the new smartphone will attract some customers for its camera tech. The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with three 50-megapixel rear cameras in a distinct rectangular camera module. The frame is made of metal that offers a premium finish.

Speaking of the design, the front panel of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7, while the back features a premium-grade glass-like finish. Visually, the rear panel appears to have a coarse finish, but it offers a satin finish, which many customers will enjoy. That being said, the Xiaomi 12 Pro comes in three colours – Pink, Black, and Blue.

On the front, the Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with a large 6.73-inch E5 AMOLED display that offers WQHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. The display also features LTPO 2.0 technology that automatically adjusts the refresh rate to preserve the battery. Speaking of the battery, the Xiaomi 12 Pro carries a fairly large 4,600mAh battery that supports 120W wired fast and 50W wireless fast charging.

Coming to the camera, the Xiaomi 12 has three 50-megapixel rear sensors, while the front panel includes a 32-megapixel shooter that still records Full-HD videos at 60fps. The rear camera can shoot 4K videos but without OIS support. The Xiaomi 12 Pro; however, promises sharp focus with an eye-tracking feature that essentially tracks the subject in motion. Other camera features include Vlog, Supermoon, Slow Mo, and Dual-video.

Xiaomi has also added Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby Atmos support. There are two vents at the top and bottom for an immersive experience while watching content on OTT platforms or playing games. On the performance side, the Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which remains a powerful SoC but is known for heating issues. The chipset comes paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage.

Lastly, it all comes down to the price. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is undoubtedly a costly smartphone. Its price in India starts at Rs 62,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model, and the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage unit carries a price tag of Rs 66,999.
