There had been specs teases and rumors going around for the much-awaited Infinix Hot 12 Play. The premium smartphone brand from TRANSSION Group had been touted to be bringing many firsts in its segment and being the game-changer in the sub-10k price point. So, with its official launch let’s find out what features Infinix Hot 12 Play brings to the field.

The Specs with many Firsts in the segment

A big 6.82” IPS screen with a punch-hole HD+ display having 90 MHz refresh rate and 180 MHz touch sampling rate – all these features in Infinix Hot 12 Play make it the 1st in its segment. The big display with its brightness of 480 NITS makes outdoor viewing under the sun possible, and the fast refresh rate makes gaming flicker-free. Sporting a 6000mAh battery along with a 10W Type-C charger in the Hot-series, the phone sure is an endurance champion lasting for more than a day.

Under the hood, the Hot 12 Play has a UniSoc T610 octa-core CPU having up to 2.3GHz speed, 4GB RAM, and 64 GB internal storage. However, the RAM can be pumped up to 7GB with memory fusion, which allows a user to add up to an additional 3GB of virtual RAM from internal storage to the device’s 4GB RAM. So, the user can get an expanded RAM of up to 7GB, which is again a first in the segment. Infinix Hot 12 Play runs on XOS 10, which is based on Android 11 and is an upgraded version of the XOS from Infinix Mobility.

WBE-ads

Coming to the cameras, the Hot 12 Play sports a 13MP (f1.8) dual-camera at its rear along with a quad-LED flash. While the selfie camera at the front is 8MP and is accompanied by a dual-LED flash, which is so brilliantly hidden along the side of the display that is hard to find until the LED flash lits up.

Talking about the aesthetics and looks, the Hot 12 Play looks pretty despite having a plastic back with a textured pattern. It has a fingerprint scanner just a lil side of the dual-cameras at the back. Going by the trend, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner would have been preferred, but in this segment having a fingerprint scanner is an added feature. The right side of the phone has the power and volume rocker keys. While the left side has a sim tray that supports dual sims and has a dedicated slot for an SD card, which allows the user to expand the internal storage up to 512GB.

Performance

In this price-sensitive segment, these specs make Infinix Hot 12 Play a solid performer. Its display is fast and intuitive with a quick response to touch and gestures, which is essential in gaming. Atop of it, the big display makes the gaming experience fun and engaging. The XArena integrated game space ensures an unhindered gaming experience, as it curbs disturbances and improves the device’s performance for the game. The phone’s cameras deliver sharp and vivid images and have features for night shoots, and slow-motion among others. And can record videos in full HD. The huge battery of 6000mAh ensures that it keeps the phone working from dawn to dusk, and would still have some juice left at the day-end for some casual gaming and video streaming. The Power Marathon, the phone’s battery management, allows up to a 25% increase in battery life. However, the 10W charger takes due time to charge up the battery to full capacity. So, it is advisable to keep the phone for charging every alternate night, if you are a regular user.

Price and Verdict

Coming to the most important point, which is the price. The Infinix Hot 12 Play comes with a price tag of INR 8,499. This price point, performance and the features the phone comes loaded with make it a win-win for someone who is tight on budget but demands premium features.
